BeautyCon NYC 2016 + Haul

I am one of those nauseating people who works in an industry that I actually like. I’m a marketer for Maybelline New York, and had an Exhibitor pass to attend BeautyCon NYC 2016 since Maybelline had a booth! Despite having been interested in beauty for years, it was my first time at BeautyCon. The space was an enormous conference center filled with booths from all different cosmetics, hair and skincare brands with makeup junkies waiting in hour long lines for a chance to grab some free swag.

Below are a few photos of the event:

While I loved getting to check out everyone’s booths, what I loved the most was the ~swag~. By the end of the day my team and I were each carrying two bags filled with goodies we couldn’t wait to test. While I’m excited to try nearly everything, I wanted to share what I’m most excited about:

Colourpop Eyeshadows: I can’t believe I have never tried anything Colourpop yet given their ~Insta-fame~ but I’m excited I get the chance now! They were unveiling their new fall shadows, swatched below:

Damn, these are pigmented! They’re so creamy that I actually couldn’t tell if it was a powder or cream formula. And I can vouch for the longwear because trying to take this ish off was a betch. V pumped.

CosRX Master Patch: Has anyone else noticed this emergence of pimple patches and been super eager to try but didn’t want to shell it all out for little pimple dots!? No, just me? I nearly grabbed a whole stack of these when I saw them. Essentially the idea is you put these clear coated ‘dots’ directly on top of a pimple and it dries them out really quickly. I don’t break out often but when I do they’re massive, painful cystic zits that are immune to nearly ANYTHING I put on them. Hopefully now they’ve met their kryptonite…

Kate Somerville Exfolikate: Cult skincare favorite and pretty much every celebrity has mentioned using this. Need I say more?

Laura Geller Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator: This is another cult product I’ve never tried, but I’ve heard great things about! I did a quick swatch and it might be too deep for me to use a face highlighter, but I have a feeling it would look great as an eyeshadow.

Eva NYC Dry Shampoo: I had never heard of this brand before, but the woman working the booth was raving so much that even as an infrequent dry shampoo user, I was sold. It has technology that makes the spray completely clear (hello, brunette friends) and supposedly doesn’t build up at the roots.

Tried any of these? Let me know what you think!

Also, shoutout to the Dads of BeautyCon. #Godbless those patient men.
